Cost and Storage Benefits to Milling Whole Grains at Home
by Donna Miller
Tip #1 - "You do WHAT? Why bother?" - Part Two
If you already read Part One of this tip, you may still need more explanation for those curious as to why you're even thinking of or currently milling grains at home.
The following tip to answering the questions of why you bother to mill at home is the benefits of cost and storage. Sure, we can buy 'whole wheat bread' at the store. Sure, 'dead bagged flour' lasts for a good while. Are these reasons to reject home milling all together? Hardly! In fact, look closer and you can see why milling at home is better.
Health benefits aside, which is the MOST vital one in my opinion, storage and cost come up on the convenience end of considering milling at home. The 'whole wheat' loaf of bread we can buy in the store is not only made of old, processed whole wheat, but by the government regulations only has to be at least 51% - or mostly whole wheat - to be labeled as such. I digress, this is also a health reason. The cost of said loaf is approximately $2.29. A home milled, fresh WHOLE GRAIN flour, loaf of bread costs me approximately $.75 to make and that is using all organic (a bit pricier) grains and sugar. Also, I know for certain what is in that loaf!
Storage is another thought. Admittedly, my fresh baked loaf does NOT last as long, not due to shelf-life but that we polish it off so fast (no one in the house can resist slicing into a warm loaf when they smell it), but the grains last for years! Either mites, weevils or simply staleness can cause 'dead bagged flour' to be no good in only a few months. The Lord made a great protection for that grain, the husk. There have been grains found in pyramids that were over 4000 years old but when planted, they grew just as they were created to. How's that for storage? Just keep the grains in a sound container and from getting moist and you can store them for years. I don't think you will be needing them in 4000 years though.

Engage in a Constructive Debate About Genetically Modified Crops
Engage in a Constructive Debate About Genetically Modified Crops
by James Wachai
Richard Heinberg, famous for his rantings against Big Oil, in October delivered a lecture at the E. F. Schumacher Society in Stockbridge, Massachusetts on October 28, 2006.
The abbreviated text of the lecture entitled Fifty Million Farmers, is available in the online edition of Energy Bulletin November 17, 2006.
In the lecture, Mr. Heinberg forecasted that prolonged famine looms in the United States due to, among other factors, the effects of global warming, shortage of fuel, and increasing scarcity of water.
Even agricultural technologies such as genetic engineering, according to Mr. Heinberg, would do nothing to alleviate food shortage in the U.S.
This is what he said about genetically modified crops. Our collective experience with genetically modifying crops so far shows that glowing promises of higher yields, or of the reduced need for herbicides, have seldom been fulfilled.
He went on, At the same time, new genetic technologies carry with them the potential for horrific unintended consequences in the forms of negative impacts on human health and the integrity of ecosystems.
Mr. Heinbergs rantings about GM crops sound like a comic strip. First what does he mean by Our collective experience with genetically modified crops? Whose collective experience is he referring to? His Our collective experience is null and void considering that 200 million acres of genetically modified crops are being grown in more than 21 countries.
Its even more misleading for Mr. Heinberg to say that new genetic technologies pose horrific threats to human health. This is mere sensationalism because he doesnt even bother to identify these horrific threats.
Mr. Heinbergs lecture reminds me of a video clip in YouTube that equally attempts to discredit genetically modified crops without any scientific justification. Entitled Contaminated the video, as is the habit of anti-technology activists, dwells on hearsays and lies about modern agricultural biotechnology. What do people stand to gain from distorting scientific facts?
Its time the world resorts to a civil discourse about GM crops. Lets dwell on the science behind genetically modified crops rather than half-baked issues only tailored to instill fear and despondence in consumers.

Teenagers- a Great Asset to Save You Money, Time, and Heartache!
Teenagers- a Great Asset to Save You Money, Time, and Heartache!
by Shevach Pepper
When I was a young child I thought that my father knew EVERYTHING. It might have been true in my father's case, but now that I myself am a father (twelve times over) I see that this is as far from the truth as London is from Los Angeles! With the never ending technological and social changes it is almost impossible to be aware of all that is going on. But, do you know what, it really doesn't matter. Vickie L. Milazzo recently wrote in Entrepreneur.com that one of the ways that she grew her business 300% to be worth 12 million dollars was by not only listening to experts but also by listening to $8 an hour employees! Obviously she made the final decisions but she listened to EVERYONE'S ideas. Instead of spending lots of time researching what kind of car to buy, what is the best restaurant in town or even where you should shop, asks your teenagers.
Here are a few areas where they can you money, time, and heartache.
* Big Purchases. If you are planning to buy something expensive for the house, let's say a new dining room set, a new kitchen or a new home entertainment center then ask your teen to ask their friends (if they haven't already) or go on line to compare prices and quality between different brands. Ask them also to investigate which stores in your city have the best service. You'll be saving yourself a lot of time and, if you are like me, also a lot of money. (I usually lose my patience after I compare one or two stores.)
* Home improvements. You'll be surprised what great ideas your teens have to fix up your house. They have seen all types of good ideas at their friends houses and they are not lazy to go on line to find better ideas and to compare prices. An added benefit is they might do it themselves! The other day, after I asked my son how to fix a leaking washing machine he told me that he'll take care of it. He saved me a good few hours and probably did a better job than me!
* Family get togethers. Planning a holiday dinner for the whole family (cousins, parents, parent-in-laws etc.)? I'm sure your daughter will love to help you find new recipes that she heard from her friends. She canalso look through magazines for original ways to set the table. An added benefit you might gain is that since she helped plan the dinner she will help more willingly.
* Vacations. Researching where to take the family on a vacation could take a long time. Your teen can research for you hotel prices, plane schedules and fun and interesting activities in that area. Tell them the time that you are planning to go and basically where and see what they come up. If you feel uncomfortable to discusss with them the financial limitations, tell them to look at different price ranges and then you'll decide in the end. Remember, like all CEO's, you make the final decision. You'll be amazed at the cheap flights and hotels that they will discover. Also, if you choose to listen to what they suggest and it doesn't work out, they won't be able to complain since it was their suggestion!
* Younger children. The area in which they are most helpful is to help you with younger children. As long as you know that they really care about their younger siblings (don't pay attention to their petty fights) then they will help you find out what the younger brothers and sisters are really up to and with whom they really hang out and what they feel is a good intervention. Remember, they understand better than us what, nowadays is considered "normal" behavior and what is bizarre. This can save you much heartache and trips to the school's counselor. Just remember, the younger sibling can never catch on that you discuss him with the older siblings. You have to make sure not to use any information you receive from the older sibling in a way that the younger one will figure out how you know it.
One last word. Don't only listen to their facts and figures and totally disregard their opinions. You surely should decide what to buy, where to vacation, and what to do with your other child but show your teens that you appreciate and respect what they did for you. If you do this, I'm sure, you will probably be pleasantly surprised at how much they helped you.

Pour On The BBQ Sauce!
Pour On The BBQ Sauce!
by James L. Paleta
When I was growing up, I loved the flavor of bbq sauce. I ate it on everything from hamburgers to onion rings. Much to my mothers disappointment, bbq sauce graced our dinner table every night. She didnt really like the fact that I slathered all of her good cooking with bbq sauce, but I guess she figured it was good that I was cleaning my plate even if I soaked my dinner in sauce to do it.
As I entered into adulthood, I became a little more discriminating when it came to bbq sauce. I still loved the flavor and bbq sauce was my favorite dip of choice for French fries, but my taste buds became more conventional when it came to my use of bbq sauce. I liked to dip my steak in it or make oven baked chicken basted in a nice hickory bbq sauce.
With my love of any meat cooked with bbq sauce, it was inevitable that I eventually visit the south. The south is the bbq capital of the world. I had heard about the world famous bbqs in the Deep South and my mouth watered in anticipation as I packed my bags. I tried to do a little research to find out where the best bbq sauce was served. Everyone told me that I had to try a pulled pork sandwich and wash it down with sweat tea if I wanted to experience true Southern bbq.
The day I arrived in the state of Alabama, I bundled to the closest bbq joint. You could smell the meat cooking a mile away and as I pulled into the parking lot, I breathed deeply of the exciting scent. I had my moist towelettes. I had a spare shirt. I was ready for the sauciest bbq sauce and a pile of pulled pork. I placed my order and waited impatiently for my dinner to arrive. When the waitress placed it in front of me, I took one look at it and told her she had made a mistake.
There isnt any bbq sauce on my pork. I explained.
The waitress just laughed as she poured me a glass of sugary iced tea. Darlin that is real Southern bbq. We dont use bbq sauce. The secret is in how we cook the meat, we dont want to ruin it by drowning it. She saw my disappointment and brought me some bottled bbq sauce on the side. I did try her traditional pulled pork minus the bbq sauce and it was good, but for me, it tasted so much more familiar when I slathered it with my favorite sauce.

Healthy Cooking
Healthy Cooking
by Izzy Morgan
Healthy cooking or healthy eating doesn't mean denial. Changes that we implement towards a healthier lifestyle will impact our health, the way we feel and perhaps extend our life.
Cooking is a personal experience and we can implement different methods for the same meal. For example, if we want to make mashed potatoes, we could boil the potatoes, or we could steam them, we could peel the skin, buy instant mixes, etc. The choices we make will modify and transform the quality and the nutritional value of the food you put on your table. So here are a few tips that you can easily implement in your kitchen.
Healthy Cooking
For a healthier lifestyle, you may want change what you cook as well as how you cook. Depending on the method you choose, you may be depleting the nutrients out of your food. You could be preparing a meal with the right nutritious ingredients but after you are done cooking, you may end up with a dish that has no nutritional value.
When heat is applied, many vitamins and minerals are burnt away. The higher the temperature and the longer you cook it, the fewer nutrients you will have in your meal. It is important then not to overcook your meals, try to cook your meals in the shortest time possible and with the minimum amount of water possible. However, dry cooking methods such as roasting and baking are perhaps the worst method, as they require a longer cooking time. Microwaving, frying, boiling and sauting are some of the methods that you need to consider before you cook. Steaming and stir-frying are better choices, as they will allow the natural nutrition to remain in your food.
It is also important to consider the oxidation that occurs in vegetables once they are cut, as oxidation will neutralize the vitamins. For this reason, try not to cut or chop your vegetables way ahead of time.
Seasonings
You may also want to think about the seasonings that you add to your foods when cooking.
Consider adding unrefined sea salt to your meals instead of the commonly available commercial table salt, which is a highly refined product containing 99.5% sodium chloride with almost no trace minerals left. Unrefined sea salt taste wonderful and depending on the method of processing, it contains 0.5 to 3% trace minerals in addition to sodium chloride and small quantities of other elements found naturally in the ocean. You also need to remember that too much salt can cause hypertension, excessive fluid retention and other complications. You could also add a lot of spices and herbs instead if you need to add more taste to your meals. Try adding fresh lemon juice or lime juice to add a little extra taste.
Monosodium Glutamate (MSG). It is used to enhance flavor and some people are extremely sensitive to it. It is believed to cause headaches, muscle tightening.
Baking powders that contain aluminum.
Cooking utensils
Quality cookware and utensils that do not interact with food are also important to consider. Natural materials such as earthenware, ceramic, glass and metals such as stainless steel, cast-iron or enamel coated steel are recommended. Avoid aluminum, plastic, Teflon and other synthetic materials. Nonstick cookware such as Teflon will emit toxic fumes when heated to a high temperature. Inhaling these toxic fumes can lead to respiratory disease, weakening of the immune system, cancer, depression, asthma and other health problems.
More Things to Consider
Choose quality vegetable oils. Avoid hydrogenated oils and fats, refined margarines and oils, animal oils and fats and shortenings. Hydrogenated oils are manufactured oils. Studies have found that they attack the arteries with a risk of heart disease, the kidneys, liver, spleen, intestine and gallbladder.
Avoid Aspartame. MSG and Aspartame are both considered excitotoxins. Studies have found that Aspartame is the cause for many medical problems, such as headaches, hyperactivity in children, seizure disorders and memory loss. Both Aspartame and MSG and other similar substances cause harm to the brain and nervous system.
Try using less white flour and introduce more fiber by adding bran and soy flour and wheat germ to your bread recipes.
Avoid white processed sugar. The living vitality is not there. Organically grown unprocessed living sugar can be found at health food stores.
Avoid artificial sweeteners, they are manufactured chemicals. Use raw organic honey, fresh organic fruit juices or organic raw evaporated sugarcane juice.
Balance your diet with fresh fruits and vegetables versus frozen or canned. Choose 100% organic fresh produce that is free from chemical fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides. Have a salad every day. Make your own salad dressing. Here is the one I make for my daily salads. In the food processor chop garlic, ginger, onion, jalapeo pepper and parsley. Add fresh squeezed lime juice (from 4 or 5 limes) or lemon juice, extra virgin oil, and unrefined sea salt, that's it, and it is delicious. You could also add honey for a little extra flavor. As far as the amount for each ingredient, I would say, 5 cloves of garlic, a 1/2" piece of ginger, 1/2 onion, 1 jalapeo pepper, a handful of parsley and 4-5 limes. Add oil and salt to taste. Yields about a pint.
Storing foods depletes their vitamin and mineral content. So remember not to keep leftovers in the fridge for more than a couple of days. Instead, try freezing your leftovers right away, as soon as your food has cooled.
And last but not least, cook with a light heart and avoid meals prepared by people who are sick, angry or they have an unhappy attitude when cooking.

Commercial Banker Presents Case for New 30 Year Fixed Loan
Commercial Banker Presents Case for New 30 Year Fixed Loan
by Jeff Rauth
Commercial 30 Year Fixed, What is it?
A new commercial loan program that is similar to the traditional residential 30 year fixed. Loan is fully amortizing over 30 years and the rate is fixed for the entire term.
Relatively new to the industry, this loan program is turning heads. Primary benefit is obvious, knowing that you do not have to worry about future rate increases. Other less well know benefits include ability to pay down loan by 20% per year, 90% financing on purchases for owner occupants and rates/fees right in line with traditional loans.
As a comparison, traditional loans are fixed for 5 years and amortized over 20 years. At the end of the 5 years the loan balloons and rate is reset at market conditions.
How? And why havent I heard of it before?
The evolving commercial secondary market is the source of this loan program (and others). Historically, banks originated and funded loans basically with their own money, primarily from deposits. They were (and still are) at direct risk of losing that capital should the borrower default on the loan.
The secondary market is different than the traditional system. Loans are instead pooled together creating greater diversification and thus less risk for the entities holding onto the loans (like insurance companies/pension funds). Pools are typically in the $100s of millions, comprised of 100s of individual loans spread out geographically and by different building types.
This diversification is one of the fundamentally differences, that enable major
instructional lenders to create and underwrite loans outside of the norm.
What are the negatives?
Few. Prepayment penalties are slightly higher than traditional loans and rates can be higher on high loan to value scenarios. Although this is not a solid comparison, most bank financing only goes to 80% loan to value vs. 90% loan to value on this loan.

Teak Patio Furniture The Perfect Choice For Furnishing Your Deck, Porch, Or Patio
Teak Patio Furniture The Perfect Choice For Furnishing Your Deck, Porch, Or Patio
by Jesse Akre
You have this huge, multi-level deck and patio area. It is the perfect place to host parties and entertain guests and friends. However, as fantastic as the space is, you might not have the high end furnishings to match. If you find yourself in this dilemma, then it might be time to toss out what is out there now and invest in some magnificent teak patio furniture, the perfect choice for any outdoor area.
With teak patio furniture, there are many options to choose from giving you a lot of options when it comes to what kind of look and feel that you want for your outdoor space. For example, like with that lavish backyard deck area that you have, you probably want a space that is in tune with hosting fabulous outdoor parties. So, you probably want to get some comfortable seating in place and some good choices are Adirondack chairs along with club chairs or deep seated single chairs. Then, throw in a couple of end tables for nice places to set down drinks and other items. And, do not forget about having an area to dine at, which would be taken care of by purchasing a fabulous patio table and chair set. An umbrella would also be a nice addition to the space as well, providing your guests with some lovely shade during those sunny, hot afternoons. Quite simply, there are a wide variety of items to choose from and if you want to see them all, just hit the internet and shop the online stores.
One of the greatest features about teak patio furniture is the teak wood that it is crafted from. Teak is one of the most highly sought after woods in the entire world because it is a hardwood that is virtually indescribable and it has natural oils that make it extremely resilient to the weather. Rain, hail, sleet, even snow will not cause it to rot or breakdown in any way, which is ideal if you live in a climate that has a wintery offseason and do not have any indoor storage space. Along with its durability, teak has a beautiful golden tone that is very pleasing to the eye. Over time, this golden tone will fade to a sophisticated silver-gray color. But, if you want your furniture to keep the natural golden tone that it has when it is new, all you need to do is to apply a teak protector or teak oil to it at the beginning of each season. Other than that though, teak requires no other significant maintenance.
So, if you have this fantastic outdoor space, but furnishing that does not match it, then you need to invest in some fabulous teak patio furniture. Extremely long-lasting, beautiful, and comfortable, it is a good choice for any deck, porch, or patio. Get some today, many years from now when you are relaxing in your old age, you will be glad that you did.

New Home Communities - Rebate Program
New Home Communities - Rebate Program
by Doug Lasley
If you are looking to buy a new home, and you have heard about Rebate programs then you are no doubt wanting to find out more about how you can save money using it. Before you decide to go ahead and save money using a rebate program, it can first be helpful to get to grips with exactly how they work.
What Kind of Homes Apply?
When saving money with a rebate program, you will need to ensure that you manage to find a home that applies. In most cases, the only kind of home that will apply is a new home. The reason for this is that old homes do not have as much profit associated with re-sale. This is because when a builder builds a new home, they make all the money associated with selling it. When someone is selling their existing home, they do not make as much money as they had to buy the house in the first place.
Who Offers a Rebate?
A real estate agent offers a rebate, and it is very unusual to be able to get one from the building company directly. The reason for this is that, if they offered a rebate to everyone then they might as well make the price of the house the current value minus the rebate. That is why, should you wish to get a rebate, you will have to contact a real estate agent who will get the commission and pass a percentage back to you.
Why Offer a Rebate?
Real estate companies generally offer a rebate as a means of giving customers an incentive to go with them, rather than another real estate agent. When a rebate is offered, a customer can save such a massive amount of money that it would be illogical to go with any other provider. The reason that a real estate firm can afford to pay this is simple they still make 1% off of the value of a property, which is similar to what they make when selling a house that has already been lived in.
How do you find a Company Offering a Rebate?
In order to find a company offering a rebate, you can go about it in a number of ways. If you have a specific new community from which you would like to buy a home, then you should find out who is selling it and find out who is offering rebates and for what amount. From there, you can then decide on the best deal for you. Another method is to contact real estate agents and brokers in you area and find out if any offer rebates for new communities that are being built in and around areas that you would like to live. When you are looking for real estate agents, you could choose to use classified sections in the yellow pages and other directories, or alternatively you could take advantage of search engines which are now a great way to find exactly what you are looking for when it comes to real estate.

Parenting Autism- Getting Past the Sadness
Parenting Autism- Getting Past the Sadness
by Sandra Sinclair
It's very common for a parent of an autistic child to sometimes feel quite sad about his or her child's autism. After all, every parent wants his or her child to be accepted, to live a happy life, and to make all of their dreams a reality. In fact, you may have experienced an overwhelming feeling of sadness upon hearing of your child's autism, as our society has long held the idea that your child's condition is tragic and incurable.
But I invite you to look at things in a different way. Perhaps you can look at your child as not tragic or incurable, but rather, as unique and remarkable.
In our society, people who are different are often seen as unfortunate, sad cases. But if you think about it, your child is probably a pretty amazing person. His autism is actually a part of who he is, and he's probably not sad about it at all, unless society has convinced him otherwise.
Imagine if our society held autism up as an incredibly marvelous thing. In that case, most of us would be pretty happy about our child's autism, right? Our child would still be autistic, but our perception of what that means would be different, and so would our resulting emotional response.
In either case, society is telling us how we should feel- happy or unhappy. But in reality, no one else can dictate your feelings, unless you allow it. You truly decide how you feel from moment to moment. You decide if you're going to buy someone else's idea about how you should feel. And yes, you can decide to be happy or unhappy, despite what everyone has told you. You can decide to be happy now, without waiting till your child is recovered. I'm not talking about denial, where you're pushing down feelings and pretending they're not there. I'm actually talking about making the decision to be truly happy.
That doesn't mean that you give up on hoping and trying for more. If you can hope and work for your child's best outcome without making your happiness dependent upon it, and if you fully accept your child as he is now, even with his autism, then your child will feel that acceptance and positive expectation, and will respond by believing in himself.
No matter how many gloom and doom predictions others make about your child, you ultimately decide what you believe. Making the decision to fully accept your child and to be happy now, while trying for the best possible outcome will give your child what he needs- lots of learning opportunities in an accepting and loving environment.

Commercial Espresso Machines For Good Espresso Coffee
Commercial Espresso Machines For Good Espresso Coffee
by Dean Forster
If you look around hard enough you will notice that there are many different types of espresso machines including the stove top espresso machine that are found in many homes which suit travelers as well as tourists as well. The commercial espresso machines, on the other hand, are distinguished from other espresso machines in that they may have different features such as pumps and heat exchangers.
The Heat Exchanger Is Different
You can always tell which the home espresso machine is and which the commercial espresso machine is if you check out the heat exchanger. In fact, if you choose a semi-commercial espresso machine, you don't even have to wait much time for the boiler to get warm enough after brewing of the espresso has begun. This is something that sets it apart from other espresso machines
Another notable feature of the commercial espresso machine is the pump which is a vibratory pump in the case of a semi-commercial espresso machine, and a rotary vane in the case of a fully commercial machine, which means that the commercial variant uses a larger as well as stronger and more powerful pump.
You will also find that certain commercial espresso machines do not have the same boiler for brewing water and preparing steam, which means you, will not need to switch from one brewing mode to another in such a machine. You will also find different commercial espresso machines including the pump driven espresso maker, and the automatic espresso machine.
You can choose the one that suits your budget best and which produces better as well as consistent quality of coffee. It is the quality of coffee that a particular commercial espresso machine can give which will decide the issue of whether to buy it or not. You should also make sure that it does not need too much fine tuning to meet customer's demands. You can find out more about commercial espresso machines and espresso coffee at http://www.bestespressocoffeemachines.com
The demand for good quality coffee that is available instantly is what drives big commercial espresso machine makers into incorporating into their products just such features. So, before you choose one particular machine make sure that you find that the time it takes to make the espresso fits in with your general needs, and you won't find yourself spending a lot of time and money on maintenance and that its operations are easy to perform, and the taste of the espresso is consistent and uniform.
Good espresso is what drives in customers to coffee shops and cafes and so these outlets should have the very best commercial espresso machines such as those made by Saeco to keep the customers satisfied and coming back over and over again.

How To Back Up Files Correctly
How To Back Up Files Correctly
by John Ugoshowa
Throughout the world of computers, its simply amazing just how many people are scared to death of losing their data. Most of those who are scared, dont give a second thought to backing up their data. Even though the thought may be the same, most people are worried more about losing their data than actually backing it up - which can prove to be a downfall in the face of disaster.
The process of backing up files is done by using servers, floppy disks, CD, DVD, external hard drives, or other methods to keep the data protected. This way, when something happens to your hard drive and you lose your information, youll have the information backed up so that you can easily access it again. Data that is important, such as tax files or business records should always be backed up, to ensure that nothing happens to it.
If you are using Windows as your operating system, it will be a lot easier to back up your files. Windows XP has a back up facility in it, so that it can make things a lot easier when you create your backups. If data that is stored on hard drives with XP becomes lost, Windows will immediately fetch the file from another drive or area where it has been stored as a back up. This is a very useful technique, although it still has to be practiced to ensure that you understand how it works. Although it may be very useful, it isnt as safe as other options.
In order to back up your data and programs in a safe and efficient manner, youll need to use some of the more reliable methods, such as external hard drives or servers. Offsite backups are great as well, as the data you backup isnt left around your office, it is instead entrusted with a company who will ensure that it stays protected.
No matter which method or methods you have decided to use for backing up your data, youll be happy to know that they are all easy to use. CD and DVD backups are easy to create, all you need is the software installed on your computer to create the backups with. Servers are easy to use as well, all you have to do is upload your data to a server, then log into the server anytime you need to have access to the data.
All in all, creating backups of your data and information is the perfect way to ensure that you always have it in the event of a disaster. Disasters can happen at any time, which is why you should always back up your data anytime you have something new or something that you havent backed up yet.

Funny Birthday Cards For Dog Lovers
Funny Birthday Cards For Dog Lovers
by Anna Hart
Dog lovers. They have a dog for reasons other than guarding the house or going hunting. They may let the dog sleep with them. They spend hours with the dog every day. They speak in loving tones to and about their companion. Dog lovers enjoy getting birthday cards that focus on that love. Funny birthday cards for dog lovers are also appreciated. Just imagine what might be contained in the following 7, and you will see what I mean:
1. Funny English Bulldog birthday cards
2. Amusing Jack Russell terrier birthday cards
3. Hilarious Black Labrador birthday cards
4. Droll Dachshund birthday cards
5. Witty French Poodle birthday cards
6. Comical Golden Retriever birthday cards
7. Humorous Saint Bernard birthday cards
Funny English Bulldog birthday cards seem especially appropriate to me. They would be easy to create, with great potential for humor. A photo or sketch of an English Bulldog, fangs protruding beside a long tongue, might include a caption regarding someone being a bit "long in the tooth" these days.
A funny English Bulldog birthday card we found online is a "driver's license" for the recipient's English Bulldog. You can have a "DMV pet license" custom made for the English Bulldog lover. Like an official DMV driver's license of the chosen state, your friend's "DMV pet license" will be a laminated, wallet-sized card. He or she will also receive a matching collar or keychain version.
To order this funny English Bulldog birthday card, you provide a photo and information about the pet. Best of all, you select any "restrictions" you want to have noted. Choices for dogs include things such as no chasing cars and no chasing cats. You can create your DMV pet license at the My Pet DMV website.
DMV pet licenses are not only funny English Bulldog birthday cards, of course. They can be funny birthday cards for any pet lover.
Very funny English Bulldog birthday cards, as well as English Bulldog gifts, are available at The Inky Paw website.
Vivyland also has a collection of funny English Bulldog birthday cards. I was amused by the bulldogs in angel wings! Women will love the female bulldog featured on another, with rollers on her head and cucumber slices on her eyes!
All right. So, there are funny English Bulldog birthday cards. What about other dogs and the dog lovers having birthdays? Are there equally amusing greetings for them?
Yes, of course. First off, any pet owner with a dog, cat, ferret, parrot, rabbit, or other pet would love the DMV pet licenses mentioned above. They make a cute card, and an ongoing identification for the pet.
Funny birthday cards for almost any breed of dog are available at the Inky Paw website. They have all of the dogs named above and more. For Dachshund lovers, Inky Paw offers a birthday card featuring a wiener dog stepping onto a bathroom scale and commenting on the wonder that kibble is a carb!
If you are looking for e-cards to wish your dog lover a happy birthday, you will want to visit the Dog Breedz website. They have dog birthday cards for many breeds, and you can create your own verses hilarious, cheeky, or romantic. They provide information about each breed, allow you to choose a photo and a skin, and then ask for your message. You don't have to be overly creative to come up with a clever birthday card here.
E-greetings often allow you to use your own photo of that African Basenji, Chinese Shar-Pei, French Poodle, or Irish Setter.
Perhaps the most memorable funny birthday card you could send to a pet lover would be one that you yourself make. Homemade birthday cards show thoughtfulness and effort that can never be captured by a purchased card or free e-cards. Take a few funny photos of the pet or find funny photos of the same breed. Study the photos for funny human qualities they suggest. Write a few funny words as a caption. Inside your birthday card, you can write funny verses, or simply wish a happy birthday.
Helpful Tip: Belated birthday cards are better than nothing, but try to be timely. A birthday card that arrives on time or early says "I cared enough" much more than a belated card unless you have an excellent reason for being late.

The Fountain of Youth
The Fountain of Youth
by Jennifer Marie Jordan
Throughout centuries, people have searched for a proverbial Fountain of Youth, a fountain whose water can actually slow down the aging process. From Juan Ponce de Len to the modern day seeker, the search for the Fountain of Youth, much like the fountain itself, springs eternal.
While this fountains location has proven elusive, its believed to be somewhere near Florida, causing hopeful searchers to leave no Cadillac unturned: as the Atlantic winds blow onto the shores, the sounds of here fountain fountain fountain are often heard from afar.
The reason for this extensive hunt is simple: when it comes to life, everyone hopes to find an extension cord.
Though the Fountain of Youth hasnt provided us with this extension - as its waters have yet to be packaged, labeled, and displayed in the vitamin aisles of the local market - there is something that may serve as a close second: red wine.
Red Wine Slows Down Aging
Most of us are aware of the health benefits of red wine. From lowering blood pressure to helping cardiovascular health, red wine is giving all sorts of diseases something to whine about. However, recent discovery has led scientists to believe that, in addition to increasing health, the consumption of red wine may single handedly decrease the mortality rate and slow the aging process: belly up to the bar and order a Merlot, with an added dash of lifespan.
Calorie Restriction
There are a lot of things that a person can do to increase the years they will live. From lowering cholesterol to working out on a daily basis, several practices work together to give the average person more years of living. Yet, nothing increases a humans lifespan quite like the act of calorie restriction, limiting caloric intake to a minimum. Some researchers estimate that calorie restriction can increase lifespan by as many as 50 years.
However, from Alfredo sauce to zucchini bread, our world is a world that loves to eat. Because of this, restricting calories isnt very feasible; we have a better chance at actually finding the Fountain of Youth than we do of not consuming the T-bone steak sitting on the dinner table, begging us to stick a fork in it. .
Taking into consideration the fact that humans arent likely to engage in caloric limitations, scientists began looking for a way that people could have their cake, and literally eat it too.
The Sirtuin 1 Gene
Calorie restriction activates the Sirtuin 1 Gene, a gene that is known to heavily influence the continued existence in all living cells. Once this gene is activated, cells go into survival mode, putting more effort into longevity. This ultimately, as cells fight harder to stay alive, increases lifespan.
However, calorie restriction, as scientists have discovered, is not the only thing that can activate the Sirtuin 1 Gene. Recent studies have found that red wine also possesses this talent. Due to the fact that red wine contains Resveratrol, a class of antibiotics produced by plants that activates the Sirtuin 1 Gene, drinking it can add years to life. With each glass of red wine consumed, a cells urge to exist becomes stronger, the body is filled with antioxidants, and Gloria Gaynors I will Survive is heard, reverberating off the strands of DNA.
The Data Speaks
After discovering that Resveratrol lengthened the life of fruit flies and roundworms, Dr. David Sinclair and a team of Harvard researchers began to see if Resveratrol had the same affect on mice. While the concept of giving a red wine molecule to a group of mice may seem odd - leaving the mice inebriated and surrounded by relatives begging them not to get behind the wheelof cheese - the study actually drew conclusions that could leave Dr. Sinclair and his team sitting next to Jonas Salk on the spectrum of important scientific discoveries.
The researchers found, after a 110 week study of mice placed on a high fat diet, that the mice who took Resveratrol lived longer than the mice who did not. Despite ingesting foods that were high in fat, the mice who took Resveratrol had a mortality rate of 32 percent, while the mice who didnt take Resveratrol had a mortality rate of 50 percent.
The reasons for this, the researchers concluded, is that Resveratrol essentially copies calorie restriction, giving those who ingest it the same benefits of those who restrict their food intake. In sum, Resveratrol ignites the will to survive in the cells, rewarding the person who ingests it with a longer life.
Could it be the Same in People?
While mice - living an average of 2 years - were an ideal subject matter for the Resveratrol study, testing in people, because our lifespan is about 40 times that of a mouse, is not as convenient. Therefore, human testing has yet to be done. However, its highly theorized that a Resveratrol study would find a similar outcome, whether the test is performed on mice or men. . The main reason for this prediction is the French.
The French are a culture bent on poor eating - consuming foods high in fat and calories - and inactivity. Despite having a lifestyle that serves as a manual for a heart attack, heart disease is not an enemy of France. The majority of the French simply do not get heart disease. The reason for this is because they, in addition to being a culture who consumes foods high in saturated fat and fails to exercise, are also a culture that consumes a lot of red wine. This red wine has proven to be the one variable that seems to enable them to sidestep death, allowing them, despites some vices, to live a great deal of years. In fact, in areas of France where wine is grown, citizens live 35 to 65 percent longer than citizens residing in a non-growing district.
How much Red Wine Should People Drink?
While this Fountain of Youth discovery is great news for wine lovers, it has the potential to perpetuate the wrong idea, with some people locking themselves in a liquor store, grabbing a corkscrew, and drinking all the wine on the shelves in a quest to live forever. Like all of the benefits of red wine, the key is moderation.
Right now, it is recommended that people hoping to consume Resveratrol drink one or two glasses of red wine a day. Because the air can alter Reservatrols potency, its best to drink red wine that has been recently opened. While white wine has some Resveratrol, red wine has about ten times more. Along these lines, wines grown in cooler climates - such as New York - have more Resveratrol than wines grown in hot climates, such as Australia. Pinot Noir is believed to be among the wines with the highest levels.
While the Fountain of Youth may not have technically been found, this red wine discovery is allowing us to feel its mist. By igniting our cells will to survive and filling our body with life preserving antioxidants, red wine may slow down the aging process, allowing humans to stay younger and live longer than they ever thought possible.
Somewhere Juan Ponce de Len is smiling.

Eight Steps to Writing an Outstanding Podcast
Eight Steps to Writing an Outstanding Podcast
by Courtland Bovee
Podcasts are on the cutting edge of business communication, allowing you to speak with your own voice directly to your audience. They add variety to your blog or website and prove that you know how to stay ahead of the pack.
But hitting "record" without putting some thought into what you're going to say and how you're going to say it is a fatal mistake. Here are eight steps to follow for creating a podcast that makes your listener want to come back for more.
1. Choose a theme. Pick an issue about which you feel confident speaking. Try to narrow it down to a particular angle or perspective-think news clip, not university lecture. The best podcasts touch on a specific subject and cover it in depth, rather than attempting to discuss the history of Western Europe in three minutes or less.
2. Consider your audience. How much does your audience know about your subject? What style of reporting will connect with them? The more you put yourself in your listeners' shoes, the better you will be able to speak directly to them. Be sure to include a response to any previous questions or suggestions-your audience doesn't want to feel ignored.
3. Prepare an outline. Expand on your theme by coming up with four or five main elements or topics to discuss. Put the most important and engaging information first; this will hook your listener and entice them to hear out the rest of it. Even if you don't write your script word for word, an outline will help you organize your thoughts into a tidy framework.
4. Think ahead for interviews. If you want to include an interview in your podcast, it's a good idea to plan ahead. Make a list of questions you want to ask for sure, but remember that sometimes the best sound bites happen off-the-cuff. Feel comfortable enough with your interviewee to ask follow-up questions and allow the conversation to travel somewhere more interesting if the opportunity arises.
5. Use simple sentences and language. Keep the tone natural and conversational, as if you are speaking with a listener face-to-face-just as you would for any business writing. Toss any words that would send someone reaching for the dictionary; likewise, avoid long sub-clauses and complex syntax (these things only bury the point). Just because your sentences are short and clear does not mean your language has to be dry. Do not be afraid to use sensory descriptions to put your listener right in the heart of the action.
6. Keep it succinct. The length of your podcast depends on your subject and audience-but no matter how much information you feel is absolutely crucial to your point, listeners will lose interest if it drags. No footnotes or unnecessary diversions here; just the facts, ma'am.
7. Do a practice run. This is especially important if you're working from a basic outline. Read the script for a friend or family member for their (honest!) feedback, or record yourself once and listen to it. Be on the lookout for awkward pauses, confusing sections, and stumbling points. Make notes and do another few run-throughs with the changes incorporated.
8. Print it out. It's much easier to read from a piece of paper than from a computer screen, so print out your script before you record. Enlarging the font helps too. If you're worried about losing your place during recording, highlight a few key words or mark the beginning of different sections to keep you on track.
The more thoroughly you prepare your script, the more confident you will be when it comes down to recording it-and the more effective your podcast will be because of it.

Wildfire Preparedness: The Five Aspects Of Readiness
Wildfire Preparedness: The Five Aspects Of Readiness
by Paul Purcell
A classic 70s tune gives us the lyrics, She ran calling Wildfire.. Then a love song, but today, possibly the beginnings of an action / adventure / horror movie. With rainfall low, and temperatures and winds high, the wildfires were currently battling across the country are heavily taxing our first responder assets. More fires will surely follow if these conditions continue.
First responder assets aside, these fires have affected local civilians. Thousands have evacuated, and many find nothing but charred vacant lots when they return. What are some innovative ways civilians can protect themselves, their property, and actually help firefighters in the process?
At the household level, most of us have smoke detectors. Thats good, because in a house fire, as in a wildfire, where theres smoke, theres F.L.A.M.E.:
Family Something as massive as a wildfire will affect your whole family. Prepare them now.
Landscaping Simple and subtle steps can make your property much more fire resistant.
Awareness In an emergency, time is crucial. Stay aware of the threat and get the warnings early.
Moisture Some say you fight fire with fire. We say you fight fire with water.
Evacuation Even after taking all the other steps, a wildfire is something best avoided.
Family
A prepared and involved family is far more able to handle any type of disaster than those who wait for last-minute instruction. Therefore, one of the best things you can do for your family is to prepare them for one of the most common and least forgiving enemies; fire.
1. Take the family on a fire-safety tour through the house. Locate dangers such as overloaded electrical outlets and safety items such as extinguishers and escape routes.
2. In emergencies, redundancy is our friend. You should have more than one smoke detector, fire extinguisher, and escape route from rooms or the house. Hint: If youre a heavy sleeper, buy a baby monitor. Put the transmitter near the farthest smoke detector and the receiver in your bedroom.
3. Make sure everyone in the family knows how to use a fire extinguisher, and how to call 911.
4. Have regular fire drills. Let each family member have a turn being the one who discovers the fire and who has to warn others. On at least every other drill, have everyone evacuate blind-folded on their hands and knees (while exercising due safety) to mimic the realistic conditions of a fire evacuation.
5. Revisit every family emergency plan with the whole family during wildfire season and certainly if one is in your area and possibly heading your way.
Landscaping
Though tragedies usually take the lead in newscasts, stories still abound of how some homeowners managed to protect their properties from wildfire by simple and subtle changes with their landscaping and home. Take these steps now, since in a fire, time is of the essence.
1. Your main landscaping consideration is to remove any dead, dry vegetation, whether on the ground or in your trees, that could transfer fire to your house. Since this aspect of wildfire preparedness has been adequately covered by others, here are a few good outside sources:
- General wildfire landscaping tips: http://www.firewise.org/resources/files/wildfr2.pdf
- Florida wildfire landscaping pointers: http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/pdffiles/FR/FR07600.pdf
- More on landscaping during wildfire season: http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/pdffiles/FR/FR04700.pdf
- Fire-resistant plants: http://web1.msue.msu.edu/emergency/pubs/wildfire_resistant.pdf
2. Be ready to seal your house before evacuating. Create covers for any opening on your home such as attic vents (roof turbines can be covered with metal trash cans), crawlspace openings, etc. Gather your material (such as plywood) and cut, paint, and label (where it goes) each cover now, keeping them stored on your property for immediate use. Put a couple of hooks over each opening you might cover and drill corresponding holes in the plywood covers. The hooks will hold the cover in place while you drill in the screws. This allows one person to do the job and frees up others to perform other necessary tasks. Hint: Also make covers for your windows (including garage door windows) just as if you lived in a hurricane zone.
3. Create a fire tool box and include everything needed to prep your house in advance of a wildfire. Store extra garden hoses, water sprinklers, Y connectors for extra hoses, wrenches to turn off your gas, rolls of heavy-duty aluminum foil (to cover the openings you didnt make covers for), machetes and gloves for last minute brush clearing, etc. Store extra tools because you wont have time to replace tools that might have been broken or lost.
4. Make sure first responders can see your homes address. Put your house number on your mailbox, near your front door, and painted on the curb by your driveway.
Awareness
A common theme in all our publications and presentations is the fact that in an emergency, our most crucial asset is time (see our other articles at http://www.disasterprep101.com). The two key elements of time in a wildfire are one, to have as much done in advance as possible, and two, get as early a warning as possible.
1. Dont wait for a wildfire to approach to start your landscaping. Perform that now and keep your property as fire-retardant as you can.
2. Dont wait for the smell of smoke to warn you a fire is on its way. If fire conditions are right, monitor news channels and listen for community warnings.
3. Learn to recognize your community warnings. Does your community have a reverse 911 system? Sirens? Will the local TV or radio station broadcast the alert? If your community doesnt have any of these systems, why not start them in your neighborhood? At the very least, have a phone tree.
4. Buy an NOAA Weather Alert Radio since theyre being incorporated into the overall Emergency Alert System. You should also know who your local Ham Radio operators are. See http://www.arrl.org
Moisture
Water is the king of firefighting and fire suppression substances. The best protection for your property lies in your ability to keep a dome of moisture in one form or another all over and around your home.
1. One publication under landscaping above lists beneficial plants that hold their moisture well. Regardless of the types of plant life in your yard, keep them well hydrated (while following watering ordinances).
2. When setting up your sprinklers, give your yard adequate spray coverage, especially over areas that might worsen the fire such as an above-ground propane tank or wooden deck attached to your house. The best sprinkler for surface areas is the professional directional type rather than the small garden variety that only sprays a weak pattern over a small area. Your garden store rep can help.
3. Put sprinklers on your roof, being sure to anchor them in place since the high winds generated in some wildfire wind storms can blow them off the roof.
4. If you have an in-ground sprinkler system, great! It will give you even water coverage over the grounds and provide a good foundation for the comprehensive water system youll need. To your in-ground system add separate fire lines that feed water to sprinklers that either spray directly against your house, or outward from your yard to cover vegetation surrounding your property. Too, have a sprinkler line permanently installed on your roof to save you the time of manually putting sprinklers up there. Also, install an additional input valve to allow water from a secondary source like a water pump drawing from your swimming pool.
5. If you have a pool, pond, well, or creek, you have a reservoir that should be put to good use so you dont draw off the municipal water firefighters need to prevent fire from nearing your property in the first place. Its a simple matter to keep a gas-powered generator (which self-reliant families should have) and a water pump (such as a pressure-washer), and use the two to draw water from your pool and feed it to your sprinklers. If you have a well with an electric pump, hook your generator to the pump to keep it running should local power fail. Exercise caution when setting up your generator so it doesnt start its own fire.
6. A final consideration with sprinklers is position. Cover the outer perimeter of your yard, spray against the outer walls and roof of your house, and cover the crowns of your trees if possible. Also, consider outward-pointing sprinklers anchored to an elevated position such as an upper floor deck or porch, or your roof.
Evacuation
We strongly recommend evacuation, even if youve taken all the above steps and feel they might work. Its best that you be pre-prepped and ready to leave at a moments notice since time is our most valuable asset. The more ready you are in advance, the more time you have.
1. All your landscaping steps should be taken care of now and maintained, especially during fire season.
2. In wildfire-prone areas, and especially during wildfire season, keep your bugout kits and vehicle ready at all times (with fuel tanks topped off). Hint: With your documents, keep the non-emergency numbers for local authorities so you can call to find out when its safe to return.
3. Perform last-minute landscaping ONLY if time allows, since youll want extra time to perform the household shutdown steps. However, dont do anything until youve loaded your car with provisions and have nothing left to load but people and pets (in their carriers and/or ready to go).
4. Inside the house do the following:
- Move all flammables (such as furniture and curtains) away from windows making sure each is closed and latched. Lower and close any metallic blinds.
- Leave your fireplace damper open, and close the fireplace protective cover.
- Close all interior doors but dont lock them.
- Turn off your heat/AC system, and cover any window air-conditioners or floor heater vents with aluminum foil and duct tape inside and out.
- Turn off all gas coming into the house whether from underground line or above-ground tank.
- Turn on inside and outside lights so your property is visible in heavy smoke. Firefighters may need to use it as a beacon.
5.To protect the valuables you dont have room for in your evacuation vehicle, consider these:
- For waterproof valuables, put them in a bathtub, storage tub, or trashcan youve filled with water. (Notice we didnt recommend your pool, since you should be using it to feed your sprinklers.)
- Large valuables such as antique furniture, etc. should be carried into the center of the house on the lowest floor (the same place youd go in a tornado).
- Major appliances, such as your oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, clothes washer, and dryer, tend not to be consumed by flame or crushed by debris and thereby offer a protected storage location for other valuables. Hint: Disposable diapers are surprisingly flame resistant, and might be useful as wraps for some items stored in an appliance.
6.Lock up the house, leave a note on the door telling authorities youve evacuated, check with neighbors to make sure theyre on their way to safety, hop in your vehicle, and leave. Hint: If the area is getting smoky, listen to your radio for road closure information, turn your headlights on low, and set your climate controls to re-circulate so as not to draw in smoke from outside the vehicle.
Naturally, this is an article that could go for a few dozen more pages since its such an important topic and certainly one where we could offer extensive detail. For now, this will have to do. Will the above information make you fireproof and prevent any damage to your property? No. But its very likely to help, especially if you take these steps now. Taking these measures also helps firefighters since any time a wildfire is delayed or a home protected, you take one more item off the shoulders of first responders. Prep now, stay safe, and remember that preparedness is not only a social responsibility; its your only true protection.

Spyware, Adware, And The Importance Of Cleaning The Registry
Spyware, Adware, And The Importance Of Cleaning The Registry
by Arvind Singh
It is important to remove any trace of Spyware from the system registry. This can be achieved with the help of registry cleaner software.
'Adware' is a term that is frequently used to describe software that downloads and resides in the system and displays 'pop-up' advertisements on the screen. There are many sites that allow users to download programs free of cost in return for permission for adware to installed on their system. This permission is, however, hidden somewhere in the 'terms and conditions' or 'agreement' the user agrees to at the time of downloading the software. Adware is also known as Spyware without the malicious streak. It just monitors the users activity on the Internet and the type of software the user uses on the computer. These non-malicious Spyware do, however, affect the smooth functioning of the computer by slowing down the system greatly and must be detected and removed. This can be done with the help of anti-Adware or anti-Spyware in addition the registry must also be cleaned of any entries of the software with the aid of free Spyware Adware removal software.
Spyware With Malicious Intent
Spyware is Adware with malicious content. They operate in much the same way. However, Spyware actually spy's on the user of a computer. Every time the user enters personal details such as credit card information or his username and password the Spyware will record the information and mail it to its masters. This information can be used to fraudulently cause financial damage to the user of the computer the Spyware is installed on. The registry of a computer proactively upgrades the information and data in its records. Every thing that happens on the computer is registered in the registry. This means that the Spyware is also entered in the registry as well and in hundreds of places too. These entries can only be removed effectively with free Spyware removal software such as free Microsoft Spyware Adware removal tool or the famous Yahoo Spyware Adware removal tool.
Spyware Removal Utility Is Not Enough
Spyware, being designed to covertly install and operate on a system makes it very difficult to detect. One of the main indicators of the presence of Spyware on the system is the slowing of the system or 'pop-up' advertisements. In order to collect data and send it to an email address through the Internet, Spyware must pause other programs already running. This is the reason the system slows. Removing Spyware using anti-Spyware tools is not enough because Spyware expects such action and so installs links in different parts of the registry as well. To remove these links from the registry one must use special Spyware removal programs. Many Free Spyware removal tools do a good job efficiently cleaning the registry and remove all traces of Spyware.

Can You Become Property Millionaire? YES, But Only With These Insider Secrets
Can You Become Property Millionaire? YES, But Only With These Insider Secrets
by Robert Gavin
Do you know the secret to Donald Trump's immense wealth? That's right, property investment, and I will be showing you how to plan your first steps to achieving the same.
It's so good in fact, that it is estimated that nearly 90% of the world richest individuals become rich by investing in property!
So let's find out exactly how anyone, including you, can plan for and build property empire, and make you a millionaire!
1. Finding The Time
Have you ever wondered why you are always working and never seem to have enough money?
The money I save allows me to purchase cash generating properties which means that I am not dependent on a 9-5 office job. I have more time to spend with the people I care about.
Previous to this, I would spend many nights thinking about what I had achieved that day.
There were days where I would work, go home, watch TV go to bed, work, get home and watch TV again.
Basically, I was in a rut.
One of the most useful things I found was finding the time to focus on the things that really mattered.
So how do you find the time. Let's have a look at some of the things that really takes up a lot of our time:
1- Watching TV.
2- Do less work and overtime
3- Plan your time more carefully.
Surveys show that after work and sleep, watching TV is the third main use of people's time.
Don't get me wrong, there are times nothing better than watching TV, but sometimes it can take up too much of our time.
Time is the most precious commodity. Personally speaking, given the choice between time and money, I will always choose time. After all there is an abundance of money, but only a finite amount of time.
What with the age of retirement continuing to rise and then pensions not being large enough for out retirements, people are increasingly thinking more and more about securing their financial future.
You owe it to yourself and your family.
ANYONE who can understand money and how to make it work for them, rather than them working for it, can become financially independent within 5 years.
2. Setting Goals
Let's imagine that two people are driving somewhere they have never been before.
The first driver sets off straight away as fast as he can.
The second driver first spends some time looking at a map and deciding on the best route to go.
Which one of these was able to do the journey in a easier and faster?
This is exactly the same way with property investment.
To be successful you have to declare where you are heading and set your targets.
Goals are important for many reasons:
a.They call you to action.
b.They help you make choices. Go for some things and reject others.
c.They introduce accountability.
d.They motivate you.
e.They increase your confidence to get you where you want to be.
When setting your own goals be honest with yourself. A great tip is to write them down on paper and refer to them. It's a proven fact that those with written goals perform better than those without.
A goal is a tangible result that is unambiguous and measurable.
Sir Alex Ferguson did not become one of football's greatest managers by telling his team to just see how it goes this year '...that `hopefully we will do well again'. He tells them 'by Christmas we will be in the top three and by the end f the season, on May 17, we will be number one!'
"I want to own 100 properties as soon as possible" -that's not a goal.
"I want 1,000,000 in my hank account by December 31, 2008" -- now, that's a goal!
Set yourself a clear, measurable goal now.
Then break it up into smaller, more manageable tasks so you know exactly what you need to do in order to achieve it.
3. Deciding On Your Strategy
Goals are WHAT you want. Strategy is HOW to get them
Here are some of the questions you need to be asking yourself when setting your strategy.
- Have I got my goals clear?
- Has someone I know double checked that my goals are realistic and properly set out and written down?
- How much do I need to make financially to hit my yearly goals? Break down your overall goal into smaller chunks..
- What kind of property investment meets my risk profile?
- What kind of property investments are going to help me reach my goals?
- Property investments can choose from include off-plans; buy-to-let renovations;
- How much time do I have on a weekly basis to make my goals happen?
- To whom am I accountable for reaching my weekly and monthly goals?
- What reading and researching do I need to do each week?
- What support do I need to buy in or nurture such as accountants, lawyers, finders, lenders and brokers?
Have I prepared a budget and a business plan?
For example, here was my goal when I first become interested in property investing.
Main goal- To become financially independent in 5 years.
Tasks needed to achieve this:
Education.
a- Take a course in property investment.
b- Read 5 books on the topic.
c- Join a property investment forum to learn from other people.
Money
a- Cut back on unnecessary expenses every month.
b- Save 40% of my salary each month, which was approximately 500 pounds at the time. This was to use to make property investments.
Investments
a- Purchase my first property within 6 months.
b- Purchase a new property every year.
As you can see, it helps to be very specific with your goals. If you can give specifics and values as this gives you something concrete to achieve.
Consider these two targets:
"Save money each month" is a little vague and might mean you only save a very small amount.
"Save 500 pounds a month" is more exact and also pushed me to be really careful with my money.
It was really hard work, but it means that I was able to put down a deposit on my first property within the 6 month time limit.
Once you have set your goals, review them every 2 weeks or so to see if you are going
Anything that does not fit all of these criteria does not even get considered further by me.
It's important that you think about your own.
4- Good Financial Ground Work
If you are managing your personal finances badly to start with, getting involved with property will not help.
Property is there to generate cash for you, so don't be borrowing unsecured loans. Property should also be sued as the collateral.
You need to sort out the cracks first so that when you do invest, the money you make doesn't fall through them.
Manage your property accounts and personal accounts separately. Use separate bank accounts.
Try to keep you personal funds and your investment funds separate. That way you won't overstretch yourself. You need to have a firm grasp on your finances to prevent problems
The simple answer that will solve all your money problems is to spend less than you earn and invest the difference!
5-Summary
Make time for your financial freedom. It's well worth it. You will be surprised to find that securing your financial future can be done in less than 10 hours a week.
Consider that this is less than a third of the time that the average adult watches TV each week.
Make goals that you are happy with and create a strategy to show how you are going to achieve it. If you can do this and stick to you plan, then you will have laid th4e foundations to creating your financial future and it will only be a matter of time before you make your first million with careful and informed property investment.

With expressions of steely determination and complete with go-faster cardigans, these two are just a few winds away from the race of their lives. Jimll fix it badge - If you grew up in the '70 or '80 chances are that you grew up watching Jimmy Savile on the BBC's Jim'll Fix It show. Every week thousand of hopeful kids and grown ups alike would put pen to paper and compose their begging letters: "Dear Jim, will you fix it for me to spend a night in an igloo / be a pantomime horse / drive a crane... (You get the idea)" The show often received over 3,000 letters a day! Jim would "fix it" for several lucky children's wishes to come true each week, this usually involved such treats as watching a troupe of Cub Scouts eating their entire packed lunch on a roller coater (and then being sick!) or similar, and finally the lucky participants would be presented with a "Jim fixed it for me" medal, the famous Jim'll Fix It Badge! Well now after all these years we can finally put things right... in association with Sir Jimmy Savile himself... Jim'll Fix It Soap On A Rope (or a ribbon to more accurate), just like the real thing only crafted from finest soap!http://www.find-me-a-gift.co.uk/jim-ll-fix-it-soap-on-a-rope.html

It's easy. It's a metal plate that plugs into your computer. You put your tea or coffee on it. Your hot drink stays hot. No need for plugs or batteries. Genius. You're not crazy. You like hot drinks and you like to drink them at the intended temperature. Why do your co-workers, friends and family insist on bothering you when you're trying to drink them? I don't know, but I do know that the USB Cup Warmer will mean you never suffer the misfortune of cold hot drinks ever again. The perfect present for yourself or anyone at all! http://www.find-me-a-gift.co.uk/gifts-for-men/work-gift/usb-cup-warmer.html

Rollback Rx A Great Pc Maintenance Solution
Rollback Rx A Great Pc Maintenance Solution
by Jacob Henderson
Maintaining a PC or a network of PCs has become very easy with RollBack Rx system restore software, which lets you do a complete pc restore, at the same time retaining all the data even if it has been created after the system restore point. As an advanced PC maintenance solution, Rollback Rx is great as a data recovery solution. Compared to other PC maintenance applications in the market, Rollback Rx is way ahead in its category. It takes system snapshots and choosing a snapshot does the pc restore.
Rollback Rx Snapshots
A snapshot in Rollback Rx is a checkpoint for system configuration, indicating a specific point in time. Unlimited snapshots are possible with Rollback Rx Pro. So this means unlimited number of system configurations. Each of these is stored as a snapshot, and you can choose among them to do a PC restore when you have to fix computer problems. In other words, you can roll back or roll ahead to choose the system state you want. These snapshots, which are literally maps of the sectors on the hard drive where data is stored, are stored on the hard drive itself within the Rollback Rxs system data structure. No files or folders are used as backup the snapshots are parts of the hard drive sector. One question that keeps coming up is what happens if you change the Rollback Rx password and do a system restore to a point before when you changed it. The new password will still hold good.
Easing Critical Updates
If you are a system administrator you will be happy to hear that RollBack Rx makes it very easy to accommodate for Windows Critical Updates. You need not have batch files or complicated scripting. More than anything else, you need not leave your systems on through the night, risking all sorts of additional computer problems. What RollBack Rx does is to free up your time by keeping your network of computers automatically updated with the most recent security patches, so that you can peacefully attend to other priorities.
As far as compatibility with antivirus or antispyware application goes, Rollback Rx system restore software works with them seamlessly. Rollback Rx can protect from day zero attacks without any data loss too. But every system user wants their antivirus and antispyware application to provide real time protection in the prevention of virus and spyware attacks. Rollback Rx enables antivirus signature updates to happen automatically. There is no folder redirection or downtime scheduling involved, avoiding a host of additional problems. Just schedule to take a system snapshot before or after any updates with Rollback Rx system restore software.

The Mountain Drive Wine Stomp
The Mountain Drive Wine Stomp
by Pierre Lafond
Mountain Drive in Santa Barbara in the 1950s was a center of bohemian life, inspired in part, by Jack Kerouacs On the Road. Located in, what was then, an isolated area in the mountains above Montecito, a rich enclave then as now, and because of its then isolation, of cheap land - $1,000.- $2,000 an acre. Almost all Mountain Drivers built their own houses with the help of their friends and neighbors and often without the benefit of plans or permits.
Many, if not most, had day jobs but in the evenings and weekends they became true bohemians living their iconoclastic fantasies. They celebrated everything worth celebrating, Robert Burns Birthday, Bastille Day, Twelfth Night, the summer and winter equinox, sunset and above all the grape harvest. Wine was the social lubricant in an age where the dry martini reigned, and the wine of preference was Zinfandel from a small family winery in San Luis Obispo.
A Hollywood movie Seconds starring Rock Hudson includes the wine stomp as a central part of their narrative. Filmed on site and with real Mountain Drivers as extras.
Our first winemaker at Santa Barbara Winery was from Mountain Drive, an Optometrist by trade, but a bohemian by choice. What started this train of thought is that David Lafond lives in the house of what was then one of the principle actors on Mountain Drive. David has resuscitated, after more than 20 years absence, one of Mountain Drives most cherished celebrations - the Mountain Drive Wine Stomp and the choosing of a Wine Queen.
Today, because of technological advances, only children are allowed to stomp. Being lighter they are gentler. In the good old days the whole community got into the vat and preferably naked. The wine did not turn out half as well.
The bohemian spirit may have vanished, children rebel against their parents, and these are mostly the second generation Mountain Drivers, and maybe, just maybe, sitting on million dollar properties is inhibiting, but they still have a good time and the spirit is there. Hopefully the tradition will survive.
Although never a part of this culture Santa Barbara Winery, and in fact, the whole wine industry in Santa Barbara County owes a debt to these pioneers and their love of the grape.
There is a book, Mountain Drive, compiled and edited by Elias Chiacos, published by Shoreline Press, P.O. Box 3562, Santa Barbara, CA 93130, that covers this early history of Mountain Drive with an ample selection of photos.
